Admission requirements

Entry into Edith Cowan College is assessed on the basis of a student's academic background and English language proficiency. Mature-aged applications may also be admitted with advanced standing on the basis of relevant work and life experience.

Academic Entry

The minimum levels required for entry into the Diploma courses offered by Edith Cowan College (ECC) are outlined below. Not all qualifications or countries are listed and students with other qualifications should send details for assessment. ECC will assess academic qualifications in line with the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR) Country Education Profiles (CEPs)

Students who have completed professional qualifications such as the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Diploma (LCCI) are also eligible for entry to ECC.

English Language

The medium of instruction for all courses taught at ECC is English. International students must be able to demonstrate English Language proficiency before being permitted to enter one of our courses. This can be met by obtaining one of the results shown in the table below.

A free, non-credit Academic Support Unit (ADU100) will be available each study period. Students may choose to enrol in this unit voluntarily or enrolment may be imposed as a prerequisite or corequisite to other units of study.

Bridging English

Students who do not meet the English entry requirement for ECC's Diploma programs can have Academic English packaged with their academic program.

Mature Age Entry

Mature age students (20 years of age and over) may be admitted to ECC Diploma courses without meeting the formal academic qualifications if they have relevant work experience and other acceptable qualifications. Applicants will need to apply via Portfolio Entry, and will be required to provide a written statement of purpose, evidence of work experience, a CV, and other supporting documents.
