Orientation and what to bring

Before you leave home

It is really important to read all the information you are given by ECC. If you are unsure about anything you should ask before you leave home.

Here is a list you should follow to make sure you are ready to come to Perth:

  • Arrange to arrive in Perth BEFORE Orientation Day
  • Make sure you have your student visa arranged before arriving in Australia
  • Check your accommodation and airport arrival is organized
  • Have paid for your Overseas Health Cover. This is compulsory during your stay
  • Have had a medical and dental check before you leave home
  • Have prepared optical or medical prescriptions/history to bring with you if you need them.

What to bring

You need to make sure you have these valid and important documents too:

  • A valid passport and student Visa
  • Certified copies or originals of academic transcripts
  • Your letter of offer and CoE (Confirmation of Enrolment)
  • Any medical certificates or prescriptions
  • Contact numbers for family and friends
  • Proof of fee payment

Orientation

It is really important that you attend Orientation at ECC when you arrive. You will get an orientation pack, meet the friendly ECC staff and learn about all the great facilities you can use. You will also get a student ID card which is also your Smartrider card to use on buses and trains and you will be able to create your timetable. On orientation day you will need to bring a copy of your ECC offer letter, your passport, student visa details and your Australian address and contact details. Missing orientation could mean you miss enrolling in the classes you need and you could fall behind before you even start. Make sure you check your letter of offer and plan ahead!

Steps to Success Workshop

It is really important for you to attend Orientation and the compulsory Steps to Success workshop during orientation week. The workshop will enhance your study skills so you can be successful in your studies. You will learn about: academic writing, time management, referencing, database research and support programs at ECC. You will be told when you will need to attend on the day of Orientation.
