Scavenger Hunt at Kings Park: Learning Through Adventure

Edith Cowan College recently hosted a vibrant scavenger hunt and picnic at Perth’s iconic Kings Park, bringing students together for a day of exploration, teamwork, and fun. This event was part of the Discover Perth Through Students’ Eyes initiative, supported by StudyPerth.

Beyond the excitement, students gained a variety of valuable skills during the experience:

  • Critical Thinking – Solving clues and interpreting challenges encouraged creative and analytical thinking.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration – Working in groups fostered cooperation and shared problem-solving.
  • Communication Skills – Students practiced clear and effective communication to coordinate tasks.
  • Cultural Awareness – Engaging with Aboriginal heritage and local art deepened cultural understanding.
  • Navigation & Observation – Exploring the park sharpened students’ attention to detail and spatial awareness.
  • Environmental Appreciation – Immersion in nature promoted respect for biodiversity and sustainability.

The event was more than just a day out—it was a hands-on learning opportunity that blended nature, culture, and community. With stunning views and rich history as the backdrop, students walked away with not only memories but also practical skills that will serve them well in academic and professional settings.
