Student Cooking Channel Brings Tasty Food to Life

We recently heard about Coo.kconnect, an Instagram cooking channel by ECC student leader Trishul Chhabhadia. We decided to ask Trishul some questions about his inspiration for the channel and his message for other students at the college.

Q1: Where are you from and what are you studying?

I’m originally from Kenya and I’m studying a Diploma of Commerce, with a major in Human Resource Management. My cousin had good things to say about studying here and he’s now at ECU.

Q2: You’re also a student leader. Can you tell us about another passion of yours, your cooking channel?

Yes, it’s called Coo.kconnect on Instagram. I make short cooking videos, with the camera positioned over the ingredients while I cook. The style is simple, but I keep it fast-paced. I sometimes add decorations to keep it interesting, and I like to include background music to keep the energy levels high.

Q3: How did it all begin?

It started during a trimester break. It was rainy, I was at home, and I was a bit bored, so I began doing something I really enjoy which is cooking. That’s how I started making the videos and it took off from there.

Q4: What kind of food do you make on the channel?

A little bit of everything. I’ve made videos on Masala Dhokla, Aloo Paratha, as well as Italian white sauce pasta. I make desserts like a strawberry and chocolate shakes, or even a mug cake with Oreo cookies.

Q5: How do you make your videos?

It’s all on my phone. It’s easy because I can record, edit, and add music all inside Instagram. Now I sometime spend time scrolling through Instagram reels to learn editing techniques and improve my style.
