From ECC to ECU: Alex Shares His Journey

Alex, who moved from Hong Kong to Perth to pursue engineering, is now in his first year studying Motorsport Engineering at ECU. Reflecting on his journey so far, he shared some valuable advice with current students preparing to take the next step into university life:

Always try and make friends. Reaching out and making friends from the start can create a strong foundation, making the transition into university much smoother. Having a support network not only helps navigate new challenges but also makes the experience far less daunting – especially when there won’t be a guiding hand all the time!

Explore Perth as much as you can, don’t let yourself get stuck inside. There is so much to see here, and when you find yourself working on a million assignments at once, it’s worth taking a break to breathe some fresh air and find something new.

If you need support, just ask! Although student support services feel a little more spread out compared to ECC, lecturers and student support teams are always approachable and just an email away. Reaching out when needed can make all the difference in staying on track and feeling comfortable in your studies.

All in all, students walked away with practical advice and a clearer sense of what to expect when they begin their journey at ECU.
