Hi, my name is Heshan, and I’m from Sri Lanka. I’m currently studying a Diploma of Commerce, majoring in Marketing at ECC.
One of the things I really appreciate about ECC is how they continuously update their subjects to keep up with industry trends. This ensures we’re always learning relevant and current content.
A subject I’ve particularly enjoyed is Work and Career. It’s designed to help us prepare for the professional world. We learn how to build a strong LinkedIn profile and make it stand out. We also participate in online job simulations with different companies and complete tasks like writing articles on a platform called Forage. At the end of the simulation, we receive a certificate that we can proudly showcase on LinkedIn.
Living in Perth has been a great experience. Compared to the fast-paced city life in Melbourne, Perth offers a more relaxed atmosphere. It gives me space to breathe and focus on my studies. I’ve made many friends here, both at ECC and in the wider community. We work on assignments together and hang out after class. It’s been amazing to explore different cultures in this new environment.
The teachers at ECC are approachable and supportive. I often take notes during class and ask questions either before or after the session. If the lecturers are busy, I send them emails—and they respond quickly. For effective communication via email, I recommend including your ECC Student ID, full name, and your specific question. Since teachers often teach multiple classes, this helps them identify you easily, especially if there are students with similar names.
My advice for future students is: aim to submit your assignments early—don’t wait until the deadline. If you’re looking for part-time work while studying, focus on building connections and take every opportunity to network. But always remember, your studies should come first.
