Aurielle's story

Learn about Aurielle's story at ECC

A little about me

My name is Aurielle Victoria, I am from Indonesia, and I just graduated from the Diploma of Commerce at ECC (Edith Cowan College). I am now studying the Bachelor of Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations at ECU (Edith Cowan University).

What was your study experience at ECC?

Last year I started my ECC journey as an online student. I am sure a lot of you can relate to how challenging and stressful online learning can be, but I am so grateful that I had the chance to study under so many passionate and dedicated lecturers. They took the time and effort to guide each of their students, whether online or in person. Every time I asked for support and assistance, they never failed or even gave even 1% less. Apart from all the hard work and perseverance I poured towards my study, their help was also the key factor that pushed me to achieve a High Distinction for every unit I took.

Did you make friends while you studied online?

Finding friends and building relationships is much harder when done virtually. However, with the collaborative activities held in class - such as discussions, breakout rooms or even group assignments - I have made some good friends along the way.

Getting to know people from diverse backgrounds, languages and cultures has been really exciting. The event of putting together so many students with the same passion in a class has been quite remarkable and eye opening. I have learned so much from each and every one of them.

What have you gained through your studies at ECC?

I was never a huge fan of school back then. I honestly did not know I could be this hardworking and dedicated, until I spent my days learning things I really am passionate about.

The studies provided - which always involve students to think critically, work thoroughly and most importantly, to hold high values of integrity and honesty - I believe, have shaped all our thoughts, opinions, and drive for the better. And this is exactly what made my studies at ECC so special.

It is always scary to look in the future and be anxious about what it holds. But I am confident to say that every knowledge and experience I have gained throughout my Diploma year, will help me in conquering what is out there and succeed.

What advice do you have for future students?

I know you have heard this a lot but believe me when I say - balance is key! It is essential to plan your spare time for attending classes, revising, seeking academic help, completing assignments, and taking all the necessary steps for success -but do make sure to give yourselves the chance to still enjoy life; your hobbies, interests and most importantly what makes you really happy. Too much of anything is never the way. Keep striving for greatness in this life, good luck!
