Movie night at ECU outdoor cinema

There’s something special about watching a movie under the open sky—and our students felt it at the ECU Joondalup Pines Outdoor Cinema. As part of Discover Perth Through Students’ Eyes, proudly supported by
StudyPerth, the evening was all about connection: friends sprawled on picnic rugs, the scent of eucalyptus in the air, and that collective hush when the first scene flickers to life.

🎥 Video credit: Fiona—our proud ECC alum—captured the magic perfectly. After completing her diploma at ECC, she’s now studying a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) at ECU, and she shared how the cinema night made campus feel “like a second home.”

What made the experience even more meaningful? The cinema is run by Telethon Community Cinemas, powered by 700+ volunteers, with all profits donated to kids’ charities through Telethon. Knowing that a simple movie night helps WA children added heart to every laugh and popcorn crunch.

And the best part for students? Also selected free movies every month—ideal for budget-friendly, memory-making nights with new friends.
